Hanna Svensson: Qualified Sport Massage Therapist

I was born and raised in Sweden, but my heart and soul definitely belongs in Australia. My first adventure to Australia was in 2001. Instantly I fell in love with the landscapes, lifestyle and its people. I have been traveling back and forth ever since. My dream is to emigrate to Australia.

At present, this is fast becoming a reality … “Chirosports” has sponsored me to work here. I could not ask for a better employer and working environment.

I hold a Bachelor in Leisure Time Teacher and a Certificate as a Personal Trainer. In 2006 I successfully qualified from ACNT as a Sports Massage Therapist. Since that time, I have been fortunate enough to work with physiotherapists and chiropractors. I have also treated and trained elite athletes and body builders - both overseas and in Sydney. I have gained experience working in the high-end spa industry, both in Australia and the United Kingdom.

I have acquired various massages styles and qualifications:

  • myofascial release
  • sport massage
  • swedish and relaxation
  • deep tissue
  • trigger point therapy
  • lymphatic drainage.

I grew up with parents who loved being outdoors. As a result, I have lived a very active life, involving myself in various sporting and outdoor leisure activities.

My passion for sport became the main contributing factor to study personal training and massage therapy. I believe in a holistic approach to life. My treatments become an opportunity for my clients to heal emotionally as well as physically. Once the balance to   body and mind has been restored you will be able to enjoy and live life to the fullest!

In March I completed an Iron Man event in Port Macquaire coming in at 11 hrs and 45min

David Ball - Massage Therapist

He went on to work at Bondi Junction Massage & Float centre from early 2001 for nearly seven years. He has also worked in other clinics and have worked as a CA for a Chiro in Crows Nest.

David Completed an Advanced Remedial and Sports Massage courses at Peridore College in 2003-2004. The teacher at this college is Mark Phillip Deal who is a Chiro/Osteo. He has also done workshops in Myofascial release.

Most of his treatments involve a focus on problem areas and injuries where he uses deep tissue massage and plus trigger point, PNF and Myofascial release together with some of the muscle testing techniques. David can do relaxing massages but finds specific treatment a lot more rewarding. His approach involves checking for imbalances and structural problems while massaging which he brings to the clients attention due to there postural or active habits and will usually suggest certain exercises, stretches and refer on to chiro if required.

David has had training and experience in the following techniques:-

  • Remedial Massage.
  • Advanced Remedial Massage.
    • Muscle testing: Range of motion, strength, active and passive and resisted.
    • Active and passive mobilization.
    • Postural analysis.
    • Muscle Energy Technique MET.
    • Active release techniques (minimal).
    • Ultrasound. (I have not used this as I need equipment).
    • Trigger/acupressure Point techniques.
    • PNF stretching.
    • Craniosacral techniques.
  • Sports Massage.
  • Myofascial Release.

David is currently learning SLM massage which involves deep tissue myotherapy with acupressure and myofascial release. He have only just started this course, which is run from home, and seems to incorporate techniques He already knows but applied in a specific way.

Chirosports Asks some important questions of interest to Kingscross residents - Chiropractor Kingscross Chirosports Asks...

Can those with osteoporosis get chiropractic care?
Of course. When developing a care plan, we consider the unique circumstances of each client. There are many ways we can adjust the spine. The chiropractic method we select will be best suited to your age, size and unique situation.
Which organs are extra?
You don't have any spare parts. Sure, we can survive without our tonsils, appendix, gall bladder and several other tissues, but each serves a purpose. We chiropractors recognise this. So the chiropractic approach I use in Kingscross is to reduce nerve interferences to the control and regulation of every tissue, organ and system of your body.
